PMI Central Florida Chapter Members,

I'm new this year to the role of VP of Education so I wanted to introduce myself and update you on some of our plans for the 2018/2019 PMICFL Chapter Education Program.  The Charter of the Education Program is to help Project Managers achieve certification and re-certification as Project Management Professionals (PMPs) through the development of educational publications, seminars, and workshops.  The Chapter started 2018 by holding the first PMP Prep class for the year, and the last one based on the PMBOK 5th Edition before the exam changes this month.

This PMP Prep class started on Feb 17th and was held on 3 consecutive Saturdays at Webster University's downtown Orlando campus completing on March 3rd.  We typically conduct two Prep Certification classes per year during the first and third quarters.  We are now in the planning phase for the next Prep class which is targeted for Q3.  The Board will be sending a survey soon that will include several education program related questions.  Your input on the certifications that you are planning over the next 18 months would be very helpful towards planning the Education Program.

In addition to the Prep certification classes, the Mentor Program will be kicking off.  The Chapter has many new Project Managers who would benefit from the experience of our Senior Project Managers.

We are also looking for Members who would be interested in being instructors to teach some short PM courses on select PM topics.  Sharing your experience through mentoring and teaching is a great way to give back and help grow the Central Florida community of Project Managers, plus earn Professional Development Units (PDUs) towards meeting your re-certification requirements.

We have an immediate need for both Mentors and Instructors.  Please email me at vp.education@pmicfl.org if you are interested.

I'm in the process of updating the Education page of the Chapter's website with new information and I will provide updates monthly.  We also have a Facebook page that I will update regularly.  I look forward to helping you achieve your educational goals for PM.  Feel free to email me anytime if you have suggestions for the 2018/2019 PMICFL Education Program.

Regards,
Lynne Hickman, VP of Education
